Lady in Red Cocktail Recipe
The way to my Valentine’s heart is via a Bourbon based cocktail. To be fair, he’s wooed by any bloody cocktail, but this one has proved particularly popular. The Lady in Red is today’s Valentine Friday Cocktail and is a ruby red mixture of the aforementioned bourbon, pomegranate, lemon juice and ginger beer.
It’s warming and fresh in equal measures, and decidedly drinkable. The ingredients make one cocktail, just in case cupid’s arrow has been a little off course. Or, you can easily double to make one more, for your Valentine. Or have two yourself if your Valentine’s working late and misses cocktail hour. The possibilities are endless.
Here’s the ingredients. I found a fancy bottle of Bourbon Clyde had been given for Christmas, sssshhhh, don’t mention I used it. Any old Jack Daniels or similar is fine here.
Then it’s all rather simple really. Add a good handful of ice to a tumbler then measure in the Bourbon of your choice.
It’s quite a nice sized measure of this smokey, amber spirit. This may help if you need Valentine’s beer goggles.
Pour on the pomegranate juice, followed by a good tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
Top this wonderful mix with warming ginger beer and give it a stir with your straw.
Perfect, ruby red, love potion. Doesn’t that sound romantic?
So that’s it. Whether you bother celebrating Valentine’s Day or not, at least celebrate the start of the weekend by trying this Lady in Red Cocktail. Any bloody excuse for a drink, eh?
Lots of love
